Invasive plant species are negatively affecting biodiversity in the UK. Protect Earth has the resources, tools, and skills required to control and remove invasive species helping biodiversity in the UK to restabilise and proliferate.
What are invasive species and what harm do they cause?
Invasive species are species that, to borrow a subtitle from Dan Eatherly, are the plants and animals from over there that are over here.
Below is a table of some of the most common invasive plant species in the UK.

Invasive species cause harm above and below the ground. Below the soil, these plants can change the soil health making soil pH unsuitable for other plants - more specifically, native plants - to grow and support life.
Above the soil, invasive plants sprawl, soaking up all the sunlight available to them. This either crowds out other plants or casts too much shadow on smaller plants who can’t access sunlight.
Uninhabitable soil or no space or sunlight for native species reduces the number of homes other plants, insects, and animals have and reduces food access, too.
Another factor contributing to invasive species’ ability to dominate a landscape is they don’t have natural competitors or anything seeking them out as a snack.
Natural habitats survive in a delicate balance long ago worked out by all who co-exist and the harmony can easily be destroyed by interlopers.
Protect Earth Invasive Species Control
We have been working on projects and building up our knowledge and skills base over the last few years to confidently be able to fully control or remove invasive species.
As a charity whose mission statement is to restore natural habitats in the UK, we can help consult, extract, and remove invasive species. We offer services to land small holders and other charities and community groups for free. We also work with large landowners and bigger groups at affordable rates.
To sum up
Invasive species seriously threaten the UK’s ecosystems, but Protect Earth is making a difference. Through expertise and hands-on support, we are helping native species reclaim their habitats, ensuring that biodiversity can thrive again.
