Protect Earth Partners with Exclusive Collection to Create Greener Hotel Grounds

By Phil Sturgeon

Protect Earth has partnered with Exclusive Collection, a boutique hotel group, to enhance guests’ experience by creating a greener stay. Seeing trees can boost mental health, and the cleaner air offers tremendous benefits, including increased well-being.

This partnership involved a multi-site planting project across three Exclusive Collection properties: Lainston House, Pennyhill Park, and South Lodge. Protect Earth is thrilled to have managed this initiative, planting 3,985 saplings to contribute to greener, healthier landscapes.

Readying to plant on-site

Protect Earth was invited to plant on these three hotel sites:

Lainston House: 825 saplings

Pennyhill Park: 1,650 saplings

South Lodge: 1,510 saplings

Protect Earth is committed to planting what will thrive in new sites and accelerate biodiversity development. By introducing native species of trees, wildflowers, and hedges, we support local ecosystems and provide essential habitats for native insects and animals.

Steve the Ecologist conducted site visits to assess soil composition, moisture retention, and other environmental factors. He collaborated with Exclusive Collection to incorporate their ideas into the planting plan. This ensured the selection of appropriate species and the ideal planting times.

Creating New Woodlands

After careful planning, Protect Earth planted a mix of native species across the three hotel sites, including Aspen, Black Alder, Blackthorn, Beech, Cherry, Common Hawthorn, Crab Apple, Field Maple, Grey Willow, Guelder-rose, Hazel, Hornbeam, Oak, Rowan, Scots Pine, and Silver Birch.

Together with volunteer staff from Exclusive Collection, we planted 3,985 saplings over five days. Across the three sites, we collaborated with 47 different team members. Partnering with private and corporate volunteers allows us to share our mission of creating, restoring, and protecting habitats throughout the UK.

These hands-on experiences foster a greater understanding of woodland restoration and strengthen the Protect Earth community. While the work can be physically demanding, it also brings a sense of pride and achievement to all involved.

To Sum Up

The newly planted woodlands will benefit Exclusive Collection’s guests, offering peaceful and calming natural environments. We hope this is the beginning of our partnership and look forward to expanding the woodlands on other Exclusive Collection properties.

Protect Earth is always eager to collaborate with organisations seeking to enhance their spaces with green growth. We know the positive impact it can have, and we’re excited to help more people experience it.
