🌳 1,300 trees planted

The brilliant Avon Needs Trees were hard at work creating a new woodland, and they did in fact need some trees. We helped add 1,000 trees to this beautiful 34 acre site n the Marden Valley between Chippenham and Calne. Both of these towns have been hit by floods in recent years and planting in the high catchment area helps protect all the other towns and cities downstream, including Melksham, Bradford-on-Avon, Bath and Bristol.

The first batch of trees in 2021 used entirely cardboard guards from Grown Green, and this year Avon Needs Trees used Tubex Nature Guards which are biodegradeable plastic. This site has been developed after consultation with local universities and Woodland Trust, and this has led to extremely productive experiments with different mulching techniques etc.
